Myths, fairy tales, folklore: they're my jam.
"If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales." -Albert Einstein -
I actually wrote about the influence of Grimm fairy tales for my senior thesis [in honor of the bicentennial of the first publication]. Needless to say, fairy tales have a special place in my heart, so this bloggenschlagen is dedicated to them.
^^ Honorable mention: Despite the fact that this blog is dedicated to FTs, mythology should always be recognized for the hysterical drama that goes down in their stories, the childish behavior of grown men, and, of course, for Zeus' inability to keep it in his pants.
And as a fun treat, instead of me boring you with my enthusiasm, enjoy my top three favorite musical medley/ parodies of Disney fairy tales (because if it were really the Grimms', it would involve hacking off limps, walking on hot coals, and being rolled into a moat in a barrel lined with nails to be drowned- some might those a little violent for children.... But to each his own.)
And so without further ado:
